WWII Command Posts – Now Open at the RCA Museum

WWII Command Posts - Now Open

July 2025 to June 2026

The RCA Museum invites you to explore our new temporary exhibit: WWII Command Posts. This exhibit highlights the essential role Canadian command vehicles played in coordinating artillery and communications on the front lines of the Second World War.
The heart of the exhibit features the Crerar Caravan, C15A wireless truck, and 3-Ton Command Low Power. You’ll also see a Willys Jeep, a BSA motorcycle, and recreated Observation Post (OP) and Command Post (CP) setups. All vehicles are open at the back, allowing visitors to view the interiors and understand how these mobile units function under pressure.

Used by the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals, these vehicles provided vital communication links during battle. The C15A wireless truck connected artillery units to command. The 3-Ton Command Low Power helped relay high-level orders. The Crerar Caravan, once used by General Crerar himself, served as a mobile headquarters in France during the North-West Europe Campaign.

This exhibit draws from our extensive collection and reflects the RCA Museum’s commitment to preserving Canadian artillery history.  Visit today to discover how Canadian innovation and teamwork shaped operations during WWII.
